I have always been a fan of short fiction. I love the way the tiny tales seem to pack a punch in such short verses. As they say, Brevity is the wit of the soul. I am going to try and use that in the below verses. When I first started thinking about the topics , somehow I wanted to write about anything and everything that started with the letter 'B'. Finally, I decided I shall indeed write about all of them. So here we go. - short fictions on different things - Betrayal, Bold, Beautiful, Brave, Bird,  Binoculars, Broken, Book

Betrayal of the worst kind.
He looked at his mother with accusing eyes.
The promised candy happened to be on the doctor's table.

Be bold they said.
Be beautiful they said.
Being both, she wondered why no one told her about the ensuing loneliness.

Brave face on, she watched
As the tattoo took the shape of a free bird
Somehow the pain in her heart seemed more tolerable now

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
To him, it was her eyes that held him captive
Even through binoculars, they seemed to look right into his soul

Broken heart. Betrayed soul.
They searched for happiness in the bookstore
Cupid smiled as they both picked the same book

  1. Wonderful short fiction! Love the humor in #1 and #5, and #2 and #3 are just beautiful.

  2. I love them all! I too love short fiction, but I'm finding that perhaps I've given myself too small a limit this month. So long as I'm writing every day I guess it's okay.

    1. Thanks Alex ! Yeah, it's okay as long as you are writing :)

  3. Wonderful! Fiction is challenging and short fiction all the more so.. Good job

  4. Ohh Gayathri, these are great! Each one, indeed, is notable for its brevity.

  5. Wow. These are awesome. Short and deep(some) and thoughtful.
I can never write short stories. I am thing for detail. I will even explain the dust that will be flying around., its shape and texture.
So, how do you do it?

    1. Thanks :) For me, short stories are easy to come ! Words stripped to their bare minimum.

  6. Very Creative <3 Good luck with the challenge <3 I'll be back <3

  7. #3 just spoke to me! Lovely ones, Gayathri!
