A Rainy Day

As she sat near her window looking at the rain, her thoughts went back to the time when she was with him. Those were the most beautiful days of her life. She had the most amazing time with him. Though they existed as two different entities, she somehow felt that their souls connected at the most basic level. It is very difficult to find a person who can complete the sentence for you, but it is more difficult to find a person who can understand what is running through your mind even when you don't say a word. She had found one. She remembered how they used to be crazy about rain and will go on long drives whenever it rained. She remembered the long conversations they had, sitting inside the car, stranded and waiting for the rain to let up.

It has been years since they last spoke. He had met someone who was the one for him. He had been absolutely crazy about that girl. As it always happens, the girl could not bear the sight of her and had told her that she will not commit to him unless they separate. She had seen him go downhill with rejection and depression. Unable to bear the pain he went through, she decided it was time she left his life. She had moved on to another city and pushed him out of her life.

After years of staying away, she was back in the city, at her home, sitting by the window and reminiscing about the old days. She had met people in the years that went by but never found the connection again. The city and the rain made yearn for it now. On a whim, she dialed his number. She was not even sure if he had the same number. After two rings, he picked up and said 'Hello'. She had a smile playing on her lips as she said 'Care to drop by ? Its raining'. And so it began again with a lifetime of stories to share.

Rains!!!

Having been away from my dear for long, I am back in the circuit!!! So what caused me to be away??? Well, I am a final year engineering student. So it is a kind of obvious. I was confused. Constant thoughts of options available and torrential inputs of advices from various sources dominated my brain, thus forming a big block which prevented me from writing anything at all.
Now, with all that thoughts away, I have finally found something to write about. The Rains.
Here, in Chennai, rain seems to have comfortably settled in its routine. It seems to have found a easy solution to save the city from its woes by raining in night without disturbing any of the daytime works. It stalrts raining at around 7 pm sometimes else 10 pm in the night, thus presenting an awesome climate to sleep on. If only I had time to sleep! It is quite pleasant to go to sleep with the rhythmic sound of rain. Pit-Pat, Pit-Pat, Pit-Pat. It is even more pleasant to wake up and find puddles of water to navigate through on the roads! (not said sarcastically!) I am simply loving it!!! (as in McD's)
Speaking of rains, I remember a friend of mine asking me a weird question at 3 in the dawn when I was all set to go to sleep in the pleasant company of the breezy rain. Here goes the question: "We normally say 'it is raining'. So what does 'it' refers to?" I tried answering and got examples quoted to prove I might be wrong. I finally gave up and went to sleep. So the question is still open. Anyone with a right answer, feel free to comment.

My first trip to home as a hostellite !!!

I slept for four straight hours today afternoon and so here i am, again, sleepless, trying to while away my time. I had always wanted to blog this. Never had the time until now. So here i go....
October 25, 2008
It was a day i was looking forward to. I was leaving for home that day. I had not gone home after joining the college in August. I was in hostel for the first time and three months was too long a stay away from home.
There was supposed to be a human rally or something for which all the first years were supposed to go. As usual, i managed to escape... :P:P So i had the afternoon, all to myself. With packing over, i had a lot of time and so decided to bug a friend who was in the nearby room. It had started raining and the hostel floor, being slippery, failed me yet again. I slipped and fell down flat. Well, nothing happened. Thank God, i was not ready to stay behind because of some broken bones.
Due to diwali rush, i was not able to get a train ticket. I had a ticket booked for a bus from CMBT at 8 40. The plan was perfect. My uncle was to pick me up from college at 7. But as they say, things can go wrong when least expected. Rain played havoc. It rained so hard that day that traffic was paralysed in Chennai. Well, i do not exactly know if i am right in terming it as a heavy rain. Streets of Chennai get flooded with just a drizzle sometimes. Anyways, the end result was complete paralysis of traffic. My uncle, whose office was in Nungambakkam, was stuck in the traffic there.
It was 7 already and he was still stuck. He called me up n told me to take the electric train and come to Nungambakkam. I rushed out of the college only to find the Sardar Patel Road in a complete standstill. So i had to walk all the way from my college upto the Guindy Railway station, nearly for 3 kilometres.
Just imagine. 3 kilometres walk in the clogged road... with the one suitcase in hand and to top it all, my slippers got torn. I would have made a funny sight... A suitcase in one hand, torn slippers in other!!! But nevertheless, i was merry. Never in my life had i been more happier to get wet in the rain. The traffic was so jammed that on a particular bridge, i had to walk on the divider, balancing the luggages in my hand!!!
Finally, i reached the station, from there, my uncle picked me up in his car. I thought that my ordeals for the day is over. But not yet. We reached CMBT by 8 40. I went all the way running from the entrance to the platform only to find out that the bus has not yet arrived. I had to wait. I waited, waited, and waited. Finally, the bus arrived at 2 in the night. Phew, what a day!!! I reached home at 11 next day.

So the lessons i learnt from this:
1) Never trust Chennai roads and traffic...:)
2) If the plan looks perfect, be sure, something will go wrong soon...:P
3) One can have fun even admidst all the trouble...:D

PS:
The post looks too long, but couldn't help it... Bear with it...:):):)
